CD/DVD drive not working - error message in Device Manager

Error message: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (code 19)- CD ROM Device Manager Error




These instructions works for XP, Vista, 7


1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. In the "Open" field type REGEDIT.
4. Click OK


5. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class 


6. In the left hand window pane click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} to select that key. 


*** if there are multiple keys that start with  {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}  Select the first one.


7. Delete: UpperFilter and LowerFilter


8. Reboot
